Fix Error 1706 MS Office – Setup Cannot Find the Required Files

Error Code 1706 belongs to MS Office Installation. You may get this error in Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 2013 and Office 2016. When you Insert a Microsoft Office CD-ROM, either to repair an Office Installation or to install a feature set to Installed on First Use, You may receive the following error message.

Solution

Step 1: First MS Office Installation Disk into CD-ROM.
Step 2: Open Run Dialog box and type following command and click OK.

CD-ROM drive:\Setup /a
where CD-ROM is the drive letter of your CD-ROM drive.

Step 3: Now, specify the location in hard drive, where you want to install MS Office. Type Product Key and Click OK.
Step 4: Click OK when the installation is finished.
Step 5: Follow the steps listed in the “Use an Alternative Network Administrative Installation” section to change the Office source file location to the administrative installation on your local hard disk.

You can also reinstall MS Office in order to remove 1706 error code. It has been observed that after upgrading windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10, this error appears in MS Office. The reason is when you upgrade your windows the installed driver also need to be updated. You must update all the drivers and software, installed on your PC.
